Today is…

Abstract natureA house work day, I have decided I want to spring clean-even though its not quite spring yet. I want to rearange the craft room, to utalise the space in there, as it is a small room , and with all my junk in it, it feels alot smaller! If I get all the spring cleaning doe, I am going to go to the dollar store and see if I can pick up some valentine day props for my photography prject and maybe stop in at the craft store next door and buy some fabrics for back grounds.

Its quite a cold day today, although not as cold as it was last night, the sun is shining, which makes it feel a tiny bit warmer than it really is. I am looking forward to the spring weather, when I can go out side with just a hoodie and jeans on, and be plenty warm enough taking pictures-right now, my hands may freeze to the camera when I am outside!

Todays picture was taken a couple of weeks ago at Sandy Bottom Nature Park I focused on the branches and let the water go out of focus-this kind of out of focus is called Bokeh. The lighter spots are the suns reflection on the water, I like how the branches have a tiny bit of light high lighting them.

Well I supose I must stop wasting ime by blogging and get to work on this cleaning frenzie that is going to be done, I am going to turn the music up loud, sing and dance while I clean!

I Have Been Crafty

Posted by MWPA on July 14, 2008

I am trying to get back into being a little bit more creative, I have so lots of craft items, its sometimes hard to be inspired to put them together and create something.

I did finally make a few cards, I made them in my usual way, I start off with one idea and end up with something completely different to what I had pictured!I did a little bit of embossing with gold powder, some cutting and sticking and some layering of paper. So as you can see I wasn’t very adventurous but its a start.

Don’t forget you can click on the picture to see the larger photograph size!

Project Time

Posted by MWPA on April 10, 2008

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I had been dumpster diving and found two nice picture frames, with not so nice pictures in.

I was looking at the smaller frame earlier and decided to see if I could get the back completely off which would allow me to put in a new picture.

Well 40 minutes and a billion staples later I finally managed to pry the back cover off, the process may have been a bit faster if I had been able to find some proper pliers to remove the staples, instead I was struggling with some round nose jewellery pliers, which were not the easiest thing to use.

Once I got the back off the frame I took out the picture and covered in baby blue white polker dot scrapbook paper using lots of double sided tape to hold the paper in place. It needed three pieces of 12″x12″ paper to cover the picture, and they fit perfectly.

Next I ma going to choose some pictures and embellishments to stick onto the back gorund, so I am making a big picture collage.

When I received the email from The Cat Corner asking for donations for their bazaar, I thought maybe I could help by giving them some greeting cards.

So I moved the kitchen table in to the den and set up all my craft items so I could get comfortable.

Now I do have a lot of craft thing’s, but always feel like I need more items to create amazing cards, sometimes with the lack of no new crafty bits I find it hard to be inspired. One of the ways I get round this is to make sure I have everything all around me spread into an organized mess.

I found some cute wooden cat embellishments that I had bought from the dollar store in the sumer, and I started off by using those, I made thank you cards and birthday cards. So I now have Cat cards to sell at a cat fund raiser so I am keeping with the theme.

I own 50 wooden block stamps and approximately 210 unmounted stamps by See D’s that are stored in CD cases. It has been a long time since I have picked up a stamp let alone actually inked it up and stamped with it. Some of my stamps have never been used so I made a deal with my self to use those stamps and see what creations I can come up with.

I tried out this cute fairy stamp, I inked up with Whispers Dye Based Ink so that meant embossing the image was not possible, so I got out my watercolor pencils and attempted to color and paint. I mounted the image on to the patterned paper and added dabs of glitter for extra sparkle, and the result turned out quite nice.

You can see more of my greeting cards at Rachels Art Site
